Casey Matteson is a sports writer for the Penda Publishing Company and the Penda Sports Network. He primarily covers events for The Outlook of Champaign County, but he also writes for The Springfield Paper when needed.
Casey's beat includes all Champaign County high school football, boys and girls basketball, and baseball and softball.
Casey also assists in covering Ohio State football for Penda Sports.
Casey also serves as an analyst and play-by-play announcer for the Penda Sports Network's online streaming radio station, which broadcasts area high school athletic events and local sports programming.
Casey also co-hosts "Penda Sports" on the Harvest Television Network with fellow fellow sports writer and Penda Publishing Company sports editor Bryant Billing.
Casey is a teacher at Van Buren Middle School in Kettering.
About Casey
Casey is a Marion, Ohio native and graduated from Marion Pleasant High School. He attended and graduated from Wright State University, where he was a starting pitcher for the Raiders' baseball team. He then went on to receive his master's degree at Urbana University, where he also coached basketball and baseball. He has coached baseball at the high school level and college level, in addition to soccer. Casey has also coached high school baseball scholastically and on summer teams, and a variety of sports at the middle school level. Casey began writing for The Outlook in August of 2009 and has been involved with Penda Sports since.
Casey is married to his wife of eight years and has one son and one daughter. He and his family reside in Urbana. |
